I LOVE YOU…

SUNDAY THROWBACKS…

From your Honest Opinion What Do You Think  About This Piece?

Here is a detailed shot of a canvas piece i did some time  ago called MELANCHOLY 3 .. it actually was a piece that i created beforehand ..then had a show at The Light Gallery in Orange County .. from there i hung the piece with the intention to do an installation mural and tie the two together  at the same time.. basically continuing the canvas piece on to the wall.. my honest feeling about it is how the composition is slightly off but that may have given its character a little push into its not being so perfectness.. but over all the piece came out pretty interesting and was very fun to do conceptually.. YOU BE THE JUDGE.. FEEL FREE TO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND FEEL ABOUT THIS PIECE..

She is an amazing person and blogger and her keen eye for art is impeccable ..the questions she asked are very interesting as well had to sit and think about these ones but it all came through .. feel free to catch the interview here at . MARTA .. and check out the art work on her blog its awesome .. heres a taste of the interview ..and much thanks star .. you are the greatest.. thanks for the love.

Interview:

M. – With regard to your biography, what experiences do you think have been definitive for who you are?

Chor – The definitive experiences to me ..where basically the learning lessons in my life.. from leading a life of crime and turmoil like drugs, thievery, to jails and just plain wrong doings .. to leading a life of spirituality with a little fun.. a basic balance of the sort. I’m not perfect but everyday i try to be a better person.. and along these trials and tribulations the ART was always there it was like a double life another thing i had to learn as well .. and through that journey i have learned allot in the past 20 years of dealing with spray paint coming from an artistic lifestyle since the age of 5.. but you know growing up as a kid you basically do not know what you want to be when you grow up ..but in my case i did.. and I’m living the dream and it gets better every day.So my experiences of life I’m grateful for simply because they shape my life whether it be good or bad.

M. – What is the role of art in your life?

ChorART IS MY LIFE.. I BELIEVE IN ART ..I LOVE ART.. I AM ART..ART IS I…

Good times..wish i had pictures of it ,But had pictures of the remaining pieces i liked.. ENJOY..

To coincide with this show and capitalize on the media attention and public awareness, Edgeware Gallery in San Diego will also be having a street art/modern pop show,  Out from Underground, which will open July 24, 2010 and run through early September.

Edgeware will boast its own A-list of artists at the exhibition including Shepard Fairey, Chor Boogie,  Brett Amory, Acamonchi, Michael Cuffe, Mark Rimland, Frank Vicino, Bryan Snyder, Caryn Southward, SkEm oNe, Eric Wixon, Jaime Rojo and artists to be named later.

Media ranges from canvas to posters to photos of Banksy’s April San Francisco bombing, to a live painting by spraymaster Chor Boogie, who is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego.

Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child

April 2, 2010

In this 90 minute film, director Tamra Davis picks up where Julian Schnabel’s (amazing) version of the artists life left off. This film pays homage to her friend in this definitive documentary but also delves into Basquiat as an iconoclast. His dense, bebop-influenced neoexpressionist work emerged while minimalist, conceptual art was the fad; as a successful black artist, he was constantly confronted by racism and misconceptions. Much can be gleaned from insider interviews and archival footage, but it is Basquiat’s own words and work that powerfully convey the mystique and allure of both the artist and the man.

I got a chance to see his work at the MOCA in 2005. To see the work up close and to understand the scale of his pieces is truly an honored experience. The trailer alone is a masterpiece. Hearing Charlie Parker while watching Basquiat paint is inspiring. For any fan of his work, this film should be high on your “go see” list when it comes to your town.
